VONNIE AT THE OPERA (prague)

Warning: cell phone picture. My bulky camera didn’t go with my fancy opera outfit.

I saw Don Giovanni in the Estates Theater (where it first premiered, so cool!) and it was gorgeous and weirdly post-modern and I can cross “opera” off my Europe list.

The theater was absolutely stunning. And very tall. I wouldn’t recommend seats in the grand circles are if you’re afraid of heights. But you get a great view of the ceiling.

ZWINGER PALACE (dresden)

and sometimes it’s huge palaces. honestly this place was enormous with like, 3-4 museums inside. touristy but you can still feel the history.

SOMETIMES IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS (dresden)

Some kind of carnival going on. I didn’t get a chance to go, but the atmosphere was pretty surreal. The  city wasn’t super touristy, either, which was cool

DRESDEN AT NIGHT (dresden)

By the time we got to Dresden it was already pretty late, so my first introduction to the older parts of it was in the evening and it was beautiful.

HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE OH MY (dresden)

I walk across the bridge to the most historical part of Dresden and was suddenly confronted with some of the most beautiful architecture i’ve ever seen. I can’t decide if it’s more beautiful at night or during the day.

The weather and the colors kind of made it seem like we were in a city in a cloud.

OUR HOSTEL (dresden)

The second thing i noticed about Dresden was that we apparently chose a hostel where everything was Australian/kangaroo themed. Well, it was called the Kangaroo Stop so I don’t know what we were expecting.

DRESDEN STREET ART (dresden)

The first thing I noticed about dresden was the sweet street art.

On our way to our hostel…

BEER! (pilsen)

IMAG0186

We went to churches and stuff in Pilsen (which is a super neat city) but we spent like twice as much time learning about beer than we did learning about churches and historical stuff. Pilsen is really really really really proud of their beer (as they should be, to be fair) which is super delicious, especially straight from the brewery. But I mean man, they talked about it like it was this magical life healing substance that will make your taste buds fly to the heavens. It was good but like, not life-changing, like, I didn’t even hear any bells or the symphonies of the gods or feel myself transported into a meta-dimension or anything, so. But don’t tell them I said that though or I might be deported.

Also the “samples” they gave out were pretty much just like a full glasses of beer and it was amazing.

Apparently one of the largest synagogues in the world. Important and sad and I’m so glad I get the opportunity to visit places like these.
